PayPal Invoice Scam

Cybercriminals are sending out fake PayPal invoices.

IT Support companies, such as Links, utilize SPAM filtering tools to block phishing emails from getting to your inbox. Many companies and people rely on these tools and therefore think that all suspicious emails will be blocked. While SPAM filtering tools do a great job of blocking most scams and phishing emails, some still get through.

In the latest scam, cybercriminals are sending fake invoices from a real PayPal account. Most emails from PayPal are not seen as spam which makes people trust these scams more. If you end up paying this invoice, your money will go straight in the hands of the cybercriminals.

Tips:

  • Always verify if an invoice is legitimate or not by contacting the provider directly.
  • Don’t rely heavily on and always trust spam filters.
  • Be cautious of any unexpected email even if it is from a well-known trusted website.
