New Crypto Wallet Set Up Scam
Cybercriminals are targeting crypto users and tricking them into providing them with their login information.
Cybercriminals have crafted a new crypto phishing email. The email appears to be coming from Coinbase where you can buy, sell and store crypto. It shares that there is a new wallet that is connected to your account and is ready for withdrawals.
What you need to know:
- This scam comes from an email and includes a customer service number. The wording in the email urges the person to call if you don’t recognize the new wallet.
- The person on the other end of the customer service line is unfortunately a cybercriminal and will try to convince you to give them your login information to fix this new wallet issue.
TIPS:
- Never call a number from an unexpected email. Go to a trusted website to get a support number.
- Pay attention to wording in emails. If the wording is urging you to do something quickly it is probably a scam.
- Be suspicious when people ask for your personal data and login information. Never share login information over the phone!
