Job Seeker Scam
Cybercriminals are posting fake jobs that are too-good-to-be true to gain access to your SSN, personal information and direct deposit.
Cybercriminals have taken over well-known job platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, and ZipRecuriter and have been posting too-good-to-be true job posts!
What you need to know:
- These job posts will look like a very simple and easy job and offer a very high salary.
- If a person applies, the hiring manager will get back to them and send them an email with a link to confirm their direct deposit information, social security number, and more personal information before the person even meets with them.
TIPS:
- If a job posting sounds too good to be true, then it probably is fake.
- A real hiring manager would never ask you for your direct deposit and SSN before you even met them or were hired.
- Be looking out for red flags. Always look at the contact information and verify that this person is actually a recruiter before applying.
