Instagram Scam
Cybercriminals are scaring people into thinking someone is trying to log into their Instagram accounts.
Cybercriminals love to use wording in scams to make people panic and react fast without paying attention to what they are doing. In one of their latest scams, they are targeting Instagram users claiming someone has tried to log into your account.
What You Need to Know:
- Cybercriminals will send a phishing email that contains a link and how you can report this user who so called tried to sign into your Instagram account.
- Once the link has been clicked it will automatically open a new email with a subject line of report this user and it says it's being sent to Instagram’s support team. Unfortunately, it is all fake and going to cybercriminals.
- Any login information or personal information you give goes straight to the cybercriminals.
TIPS:
- If you feel pressured into sending information fast, it’s probably a red flag and a scam! Make sure to think before you click.
- If you think this message might be real. Go to your Instagram using the app and change your password.
- Do not send any login information or personal information over an email.
