Amazon Scam

Cybercriminals are targeting Amazon Prime users in France by sending them phishing emails claiming to renew their Amazon Prime membership

Cybercriminals are targeting Amazon Prime users in France by sending them phishing emails claiming to renew their Amazon Prime membership. This email claims that it will automatically renew your Prime membership for a steep price.

What you need to know:

  • The wording in the email will make people think this is a real email. Cybercriminals use convincing content like your name and address to lure you in.
  • This email will include a cancel subscription link. Unfortunately, this link will go to a fake Amazon login page.
  • Any login information entered on the fake page, can be stolen by the cybercriminals. This also means they can now access your account with personal information and payment information.

TIPS:

  • Never click on a link from an unexpected email! If you think this may be real, go to your Amazon account on a trusted browser or the app and check to see if there is a price increase in your membership renewal.
  • This scam is targeting people in France but it could turn into a scam targeting anyone at any location.
  • If you want to double check that memberships aren’t increasing to a higher price, you can reach out to Amazon’s customer service and check with them directly.
