AI Scam
Cybercriminals are using AI to create content for their vishing and phishing scams.
Artificial Intelligence is becoming widely popular and making it easier for people to create content quickly. Cybercriminals use AI to create real life like text messages and voice calls that lead their victims to malicious links.
What you need to know:
- Cybercriminals have vishing (calls) and smishing (text messages) scams circulating that use wording to gain your trust.
- When a person gets this phone call or message, they are greeted on the other end by a message created by an AI impersonating a US government official.
- Once trust is gained, they will send you a link on another app. This link is malicious, and cybercriminals will be able to steal your personal data once the link is clicked.
TIPS:
- Never open links from someone you don’t know! People can trick you into clicking something that is malicious.
- Be cautious of unexpected messages and calls.
- Remember cybercriminals can impersonate any person or company.
