Soda Phishing Scam

Cybercriminals love to impersonate well-known companies. This is one of their strategies to trick people into sending over their sensitive data. In the latest scam, cybercriminals were spoofing Pepsi. They crafted a phishing email that appears to be sent from a Pepsi employee requesting a quote for your services or purchasing one of your products.

Cybercriminals are using other common strategies like pulling a real employee’s name to use and spoofing the email address to make it look like it really is coming from Pepsi in this scam. This email also uses urgency verbiage because they are hoping you do an action quickly without really thinking about it.

Tips:

  • Always be cautious of an email that asks you to do something urgently.
  • Verify that the sender is really who they claim to be through another method than what’s in the email. Example: Go to the company's website through a trusted browser and call the company’s main line.
  • Never click on links or open attachments from unexpected emails.
