A major travel information company

The Business Challenge:

The firm and one of its recent acquisitions had disparate types of hotel and travel information being marketed as separate unrelated services. They tracked over 800 pieces of information per hotel for over 100,000 hotels. Much of the data was overlapping, yet difficult to integrate because of the various technologies being used. The challenge was to increase the value of the information and allow the firm to develop new markets for their services.

The Solution:

Links worked with the client to design a new Intranet application that streamlined the administration of the hotel information data. The team also designed an Intranet application for editors to maintain their editorial content. The solution improved communication and workflow processing between the different areas of the company, standardized information, and integrated the disparate databases so the corporation can fully leverage the data and explore new markets for its use. This data currently feeds the Microsoft Expedia travel site.

Through the innovative concept design and approach to building this application, our client achieved results that surpassed their annualized targeted goals. Our client realized a gain of 150% on new incremental business from existing customers. They also increased their customer base by 70% via new product offerings.
